Born and raised in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (a suburb of Tulsa, OK), I was inspired at an early age by multiple family members in the construction industry along with the rich Art Deco architecture found throughout the Tulsa Area. I pursued an architectural degree from Oklahoma State University. Since then, I have been working for Architects Collective in Tulsa, OK where over the last 26 years I have had the privilege of working on projects all over the country. Including the Michael D Case Tennis center at TU, commercial center remodels in upstate New York, thousands upon thousands of multi-family units from high-end lofts to affordable housing in small rural Oklahoma; just to name a few.
I worked on all levels of projects from concept site, zoning, preliminary bid packages, to construction documents and specifications, bid negotiations and occasional value engineering when bids come in a little high or financial circumstances change, to construction administration, shop review, site inspections and final punches. I have always enjoyed the architectural and construction field for all the challenges it brings using my whole-self -- creativity, design, and artistic expression crossed with critical analytic problem solving and attention to minute details. The following represents just a handful of projects and project types that have been brought to life:
Case Tennis Center at University of Tulsa
Cottages at Tallgrass Point
Cascata Apartments
University of Tulsa Student Apartments
Case Tennis Center at University of Tulsa:
This project for the university was a central part of the campus's western edge development, which redefined the campus and neighborhood fabric. The project and its adjoining soccer and softball field replaced a dilapidated school long abandoned by the city. The soccer field provided additional detention for the area.
The facility offers twelve outdoor tournament level tennis courts as well as six temperature control courts with a conditioned gallery seating area from the upper mezzanine.
During the development of the main project, I joined the design team handling construction documents, bidding, and later value engineering. While under construction, I took over the project administration of the project and saw it to completion after an unexpected staff change.
Commercial Multi-family:
Creating homes for people has also been a large focus of my development career thus far from luxury apartments and loft styling living opportunities to publicly funded housing projects. I am always striving to provide a pleasant place for people to call home. I have worked on developing housing up and down the east coast from Richmond Virgina to Costal Florida; and nearly every state in the South, Midwest and Central United States. On Average, I have had at least ten projects in various stages of the process at any one time. This is just a small sample of the projects I have worked on, be it rehab of 50-year-old units to new construction, striving to provide the best living for all our end users.
